In environments such as Bangkok that can be polluted and full of concrete Hansar has emphasized the importance of adding green spaces to give back to the community or neighborhood a sense of peace and relaxation, a cooler area with cleaner air. As apposed to a concrete wall parking lot, we have a vertical wall of green creepers (5-stories high) that surrounds all facades of our building, and absorbs naturally the CO2 from the cars.

This greenscape is enjoyed by our immediate neighbors and helps to cool our building. We have provided a large proportion of area on our ground floor where where we have planted large trees, shrubbery and a green lawn. This area is not only enjoyed by our guests in the hotel and residence, but by our neighbors who walk past this area each day.

Passive Design Strategies - Using Less Energy, Controlling Waste

Our architects have utilized several other passive design strategies to build efficiently by using and creating less waste. Passive design strategies take existing site conditions and work with these conditions rather than against them.

Unlike most high-rises in Bangkok, all the corridor zones in our buildings are open air and allow for natural air to circulate and cool the entire building, therefore not requiring air-conditioning to be used 24 hours a day. This is also the same concept at the lobby where the green walls help to refresh the area.

Our engineers have utilized the condensing water from the air-conditioning units to heat the water in our hotel through a heat exchange system placed at the top of our hotel building. The vertical green walls and greenspaces throughout the building will be irragated from recycled water our building produces.

Hansar's facade has a distinctive gold colored mesh that not only visually gives in a distinctive quality, but also works as a sunscreen that helps to prevent the building from taking in too much direct heat.

Our top crown is lit by using only fluorescent lighting to cut-down on energy use. All residential appliances have been chosen for their energy saving efficiency using the newest models and latest technologies from Germany. In our condominium units all air-conditioning units are individually controlled rather than centrally controlled to regualate and prevent the overuse of air-conditioning.
